When the groom’s parents are hosting

Less common, and no less correct: the wording is the same as for the bride’s parents, with “son” in place of “daughter”. It is often chosen when his family is paying, when the wedding is in his family’s home town, or when hers cannot host.

First names, and a hope rather than a request. His name comes first: it is his parents asking.

The family name alone. Short, and it makes plain who is hosting without a line of titles.

What people ask

Is it unusual for the groom’s family to host?: Less usual, not unusual. Nobody receiving the card will think twice about it.
Whose name goes first on the card?: Often his, because his parents are hosting, but either is correct. On deckle.page you type the names in the order you want.
Should the bride’s parents be on it?: Only if they are hosting too; then use the both-families wording.
